Live Oaks

The majority of live oaks tend to undergo defoliation (leaf loss) and succumb to the disease within a relatively short period, typically within 3 to 6 months from the first signs of symptoms. However, there are exceptions, with some live oaks exhibiting a more extended period of decline before succumbing, while a small number of untreated trees can persist for many years in different stages of health deterioration. On rare occasions, within an oak wilt-affected area, a few live oaks might remain uninfected and unaffected by the disease.

Live oaks have moderate rates of mortality.
